Great place to get discount, damaged packages and bulk food. They always have different things rotating through.
What a great place. Bahr's specializes in selling groceries and other items that are either overstocks from other stores; items at, near, or over their "best by" dates; crushed boxes, dented cans, and items that will no longer be stocked by other stores. They also buy a lot of chicken and meats that they get from processors that are either overstocks, or mis-cut, or are ham ends or pieces. They get a lot of "exotic" foods, cheeses, drinks, and condiments from specialty stores and sell them for pennies on the dollar, which allows you to sample things you may not normally try. We especially like doing this with their selection of imported cheeses. They have lots of different coffees and teas. The great thing about Bahr's is that you never know what they're going to have in stock, so it's worth going by every week or two as the stock changes quite frequently.
I've gone past this place numerous times over the years, but never felt compelled to check it out until a friend did and told me about it. Don't let the outlying location, simple exterior and understated signage fool you. This is not your stereotypical little rural convenience store for donuts, beef jerky and a jug of milk. There are gourmet items here like almond paste, olive OILS, herbal vinegars, and jugs of cooking sherry. And most items at unbelievably low prices. I haven't even begun to explore all the shelves. And the staff are very friendly and if you chat a bit, will probably remember you next time you visit.
